Please feel free to link to this tutorial but do NOT link directly to any of the images. Also, do
not claim this tutorial as your own or copy and redistribute it in any way. Any similarity of this tutorial
and any other is purely coincidental as this is my original creation.
Protecting images can be a difficult task. There seems to be no sure way of keeping your images from being stolen.
Using a watermark is one way that you can help protect them from thieves that may try to use your images and claim them as their own.
This tutorial was created in Pain Shop Pro 9 and should work in version 8 as well.
1.)To get started we need to go to File > New >. Choose a new 300x300 Raster Background and select the color grey.
(you do not need to use a background color but may find it easier to view your work with one.)
2.)Go to Layers > New Raster Layer > Click yes when the new window opens up.
3.)Keep your new layer highlighted and go to your Font tool. Below are the settings that I used. Choose your own font.
4.)Type out your desired text and click Apply.
5.)Go to Effects > Drop Shadow and use the following settings.
- Vertical> 1
- Horizontal> 1
- Opacity> 83
- Blur> 6.00
- Color> Black
(experiment with different colors for different images if needed)
6.)Go to Selections > Select None. Then highlight your background layer, right click, and choose Delete. You will now only have your watermark layer.
7.)You can now copy and paste your watermark onto your image or you can save it as a PSP Tube so that you will have it to use over and over again. As a PSP Tube
you will also be able to change the size of it for different images.
8.) To save your image as a tube go to File > Export > Picture Tube . Give your new tube a name and save. Now you can select your tube tool and use your new watermark.
Below is an example of the same photo from above with different sized watermarks.
You now have your own watermark to use on your images. Click on the links below to find more easy PSP tutorials.
